Make Your Move: Introducing Apple Fitness+ Powered By Apple Watch

For a good many of us, fitness hasn’t exactly been a priority over the last few months. Winter’s not the best time for that in any year, but with current healthcare crises not quite letting up yet, exercise has been one of the first things to fall victim to malaise. Well, your Apple Watch has a thing or two to say about that.

Apple Watch wearers have already been using its in-built health and fitness functions for years; aside from its sleek good looks and easy connectivity, it’s one of the major reasons the wearable tech has been so successful. Apple Fitness+ however takes those innate qualities and builds an entirely new experience around them.

A Seamless Workout Experience

Apple Fitness+ creates a seamless workout experience, using the fitness data gathered by your Watch and intelligently integrating it into your wider connected system, including iPhones, iPads and Apple TV. It allows you to watch a studio-style workout video while at the same time tracking your heart rate and overall fitness levels.

From there, it tailors the experience to you, suggesting new workouts based on what you’ve already enjoyed in the past or across one of ten different workout types. Want to get some serious exercise done in a short amount of time? Go for High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT). Just want to relax after a hard day not being in the office? Chill out with Mindful Cooldown.

For Beginners And Athletes Alike

If you’re not 100% sure what you should be doing or you’re not sure quite how out of shape you are, the curated Absolute Beginner workouts are designed from the ground-up to kickstart your exercise routine. Whichever you opt for, expect specialist trainers, personalised workouts and, as a final touch, the perfect soundtrack.

According to a 2010 study, listening to music can bring out “higher-than-expected levels of endurance, power, productivity, or strength”. In short, the right soundtrack helps you perform at your best, which is why each workout is perfectly paired with matching music from leading artists. It’s as close to getting back to the gym as a virtual workout experience can be.

Still, if that all sounds like a bit much – don’t worry, we don’t blame you – then there are some less energy-intensive ways to keep fit with your Apple Watch.  Many of us listen to podcasts whenever we need to get somewhere; well now Apple has flipped that around with Time to Walk, a series of stories, music and photos designed to get you walking.

Be Inspired

As Jay Blahnik, Apple’s senior director of Fitness Technologies puts it:

“Even throughout this challenging period of time, one activity that has remained available to many is walking. With Time to Walk, we’re bringing weekly original content to Apple Watch in Fitness+ that includes some of the most diverse, fascinating, and celebrated guests offering inspiration and entertainment to help our users keep moving through the power of walking.”

Those influential people include the likes of Draymond Green, Shawn Mendes and the country legend that is Dolly Parton. If her charming Tennessee twang doesn’t make you want to get out of the house, nothing will. Episodes are downloaded directly to your Apple Watch with a Fitness+ subscription, so you don’t even need to worry about keeping track.

Get Started, Don’t Look Back

Of course, you’re probably less likely to tap into some of the fitness features of an Apple Watch while walking. You’re not off the hook that easy though as the latest OS updates mean that your connected wristwear can track your overall cardio fitness. As this is one of the most important indicators of health, you’d best keep a close eye on it.

So, if you’re struggling to get to grips with exercise in these trying times, as many of us are, investing in an Apple Watch and a matching subscription to Fitness + may well be the best way to keep yourself not just fit, but healthy.

Trade-In, Trade-Up

And now’s the perfect time to get involved as this February, you can get extra savings on Apple Watch with eligible trade-in. Shop Series 6 from £229 or SE from £199.
